Is this over processed?
by Alec Green - Monday, 21 July 2014, 8:19 PM

While the airshow was on I took some pics of the planes and actually managed to get a few good images but this one seemed a bit dull and lifeless so I played with it a bit. I think it came out really well and almost has a painting type quality to it? But where do you draw the line, when is an image over processed and have I gone too far with this one :-)

Cheers

Alec

Hi Alec,

The best thing about photography is that there is no right or wrong image. It's good to experiment with post production techniques, but only to add to an already well executed picture. For me your shot does not look overworked. I have put my interpretation on your image, just to demonstrate how another photographer may manipulate your original shot. I am not saying it's an improvement just a different interpretation.

David.

Thanks for your input David, I see what you mean. The edit you posted has a much more natural looking sky, which I like but I also like the colours of my original edit, like you say different interpretations.

I think i maybe need to have more of an idea about what I want to achieve before I start editing as I'm very much at the experimental 'twiddle this knob and see what it does' stage which is fine as I'm still learning. I find some of these editing packages are so powerful it'd take me a lifetime to master all the features :)

Thanks again

Alec
