I suspect your camera is set to auto white balance, which is fine. With the light on it is a very different colour temperature to daylight which is what you shot first, i would guess. You can control the white balance for many different lighting conditions and it's a really good exercise to play around with them and to see the difference. The great thing is that there is no right or wrong in photography, you decide what your shot should look like. I am sure if i saw the other shot you took i would also prefer this warmer version.
Experimentation is the key, don't be afraid to have a play with settings and work out which is best for you.
